The CHK | Central Boathouse set to open on April 18th will serve as the home and training facility for the UCO women’s rowing team and will feature the Martha Burger Art Gallery, the C. Hubert Gragg Shell Gallery, the MidFirst Bank Performance Hall, office and conference space, concessions, a green room and indoor rowing machines.

“The grand opening of the CHK |Central Boathouse will be a very special day for Central and the metro community. UCO is proud and excited to be part of the growing story of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area and we look forward to celebrating the years of work and collaboration that have gone into making the dream of Central’s boathouse a reality.” UCO President Don Betz

The inspiration flowed from the connection of rowing, art and music and its relationship to rhythm, flow, and movement.  Elliott + Associates' goal was to create an architectural spirit that embodies the similarities shared by these three disciplines.  The hope is that you will be able to see the abstract connections in the architectural form and light.  Some connections are quiet and some connections are bold.  Imagine a song inspired by rowing.

“There’s a wonderful relationship between music, rowing and art.  Nothing exists like this anywhere in the world. Rowing is one of the most beautiful sports and one of the oldest sports in recorded history. To put all three of these together on the Oklahoma River is one of a kind!” – Rand Elliott, FAIA, Architect, Elliott + Associates Architects
