Canopy MLS Appoints Steve Byrd as New CEO

North Carolina’s Canopy MLS has officially appointed Steve Byrd as its new chief executive officer, effective August 1. Byrd, who steps into the role after spending nearly 30 years with the regional organization, most recently served as its vice president and chief technology officer.

He succeeds longtime CEO Anne Marie DeCatsye, who is preparing for her well-deserved retirement at the end of the year. This major leadership transition marks a new chapter for the organization as it continues to adapt to a shifting real estate landscape.

Leadership Restructuring and Strategic Growth

In conjunction with this executive transition, Canopy MLS is actively separating the leadership of its Realtor association and the multi-state listing service. While Byrd will spearhead the multiple listing service, he will continue reporting to DeCatsye until her final departure while the association launches a national search for its own dedicated CEO.

Driving Broker Flexibility

As the incoming chief executive, Byrd will heavily drive recent initiatives aimed at providing greater flexibility and operational efficiency for local brokers. These progressive updates include nationwide service expansions designed to streamline workflows across the board.

National Expansion Across Major MLS Networks

Meanwhile, Bright MLS has appointed Steve Mapes to the newly created role of executive vice president of growth and strategy. Mapes previously served as the chief revenue officer at First MLS and brings an extensive technical background from his tenure at Lone Wolf.

Expanding Market Reach

In his new executive position, Mapes will oversee targeted initiatives designed to expand Bright’s overarching market reach and identify lucrative growth opportunities. Bright President and CEO Brian Donnellan noted that Mapes’ technical expertise will prove instrumental as the country’s largest multiple listing service continues to evolve.
