Norm Architects Unveils Audo’s First US Showroom in New York

This article highlights Danish design brand Audo Copenhagen’s first showroom outside Scandinavia, Audo House New York. The landmarked Tribeca space was created for NYCxDesign 2026.

Located on Laight Street, the ground-floor showroom is a collaboration with Norm Architects’ Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen. The aim is to fuse Copenhagen’s design heritage with New York’s raw, industrial character.

The space feels warm and lived-in, using a Scandinavian palette and exposed brick. Lime plaster ceilings and carefully crafted details invite guests to experience furniture as everyday objects.

Audo House New York: Bridging Copenhagen Craft with New York Energy

The first showroom outside Scandinavia stands in a landmarked Tribeca building. It reflects Audo Copenhagen’s intent to translate its Nordic sensibilities into a New York context.

The ground-floor space on Laight Street is thoughtfully configured to balance domestic ease with a showroom’s curatorial discipline. This aligns with NYCxDesign’s design-forward energy.

Two design strategies underpin the project: a warm neutral Scandinavian palette and a tactile, industrial-influenced material system. Exposed brick and structural columns are painted soft beige to soften the industrial backdrop.

Dark-stained wooden floors anchor the space. Lime plastered ceilings add texture.

Column bases are wrapped in ridged flares that reference industrial machinery. This nods to the building’s history while preserving a humane, accessible atmosphere.

Design, Materials and Spatial Strategy

Interiors were conceived by long-time Audo collaborator Colin King. He choreographs a sequence of spaces that feel intimate yet open to conversation.

The palette and textures are deliberate: warm neutrals and natural materials. The rhythm invites guests to move and touch without feeling overwhelmed.

Back-of-house areas are concealed behind fritted glass panels within a rhythm of batons. They can be fully hidden behind curtains when needed.

This preserves the showroom’s domestic ambience while enabling flexibility for events and private consultations. The space remains adaptable and human-scale.

Furniture, Lighting and Art: The Showroom as a Living Sketch

Furniture and objects are arranged in domestic vignettes to invite use and conversation. Featured pieces include Elizabeth and Tire Man lounge chairs, the Eave sectional, the Volume side table, the Crescent shelving system, and the expansive Androgyne Dining Table.

These items are part of a living scenario that shows how Audo Copenhagen’s designs inhabit daily life. Art plays a supporting role, with works by Portland-based artist Benjamin Ewing echoing the Copenhagen counterpart’s quiet elegance.

Lighting, textiles, and objects are arranged to create warmth and gradual revelation as visitors move through the space. This reinforces the idea that design reveals itself over time.

Events, Program and NYCxDesign Alignment

The showroom is conceived as a dynamic platform, with a rotating selection of products and events that align with NYCxDesign, which runs from 14–20 May 2026.

This programming strategy positions Audo House New York as both a retail experience and a cultural venue. Designers, clients, and the public are invited to engage with Nordic design in a new urban context.
