Honoring C1 District’s 50 Influential Architects and Their Impact

The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) District C1 recently marked its 50th founding anniversary with a significant event honoring outstanding architects. Hosted at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, this occasion, titled “50 Distinguished Architects of District C1,” highlighted individuals whose contributions have shaped architecture in the region and strengthened the UAP organization’s legacy.

Host architects Jason Roi Bucton and Katrina Sia led the festivities. Performances by renowned singer Barette Oliver Richards added to the celebration, creating an atmosphere of gratitude for decades of architectural excellence.

Honoring 50 Years of Service and Leadership

This celebration recognized the rich history and evolution of District C1 as a dynamic force in Philippine architecture. District director Leartes Tabotabo Jr., along with architects James Jao and Rolan Paolo Alberto, brought together professionals from seven chapters under District C1.

They acknowledged exceptional contributions to both the built environment and the profession’s integrity. The event united members from Bohol, Cebu, Datu Lapulapu, Leon Kilat, Rajah Humabon, Sugbu, and Dumaguete chapters.

A Rigorous Selection Process

The recognition of the “50 Distinguished Architects of District C1” followed a careful selection process. Starting in April 2025, chapter presidents nominated members whose careers showed excellence in design, construction, academe, management, and government service.

Over 70 nominations were submitted from the district’s chapters. A panel of UAP national officers, including past and present leaders, reviewed the nominations to ensure the honorees met high standards of service, leadership, and integrity.
